It is not just a walk in the park when you get to be with Jessica, Leo and Eva. It is always playtime! We met at Mt. Saint Mary's Park in St Charles for a walk around and play together session in the early fall. Since I have know their family for many years it was pretty easy for the kids to know what to expect from a session with me. I like to tease them and make them laugh. Somewhere in between, it allows their mom and I a few moments to catch up on what is happening in their busy lives. It is so much fun to meet up with them and see what the kids are enjoying at school and in their activities. I love hearing their stories and reminiscing about those times with my own boys. They read the same books, go to many of the same classes, and enjoy some of the same fun. Both Leo and Eva are big fans of books, which makes this former teacher very happy to hear.
We chose this park because of all the great vignettes of trees, the trail and seating areas. It is part of the local park district where families in St. Charles and Geneva can go to run, bike, picnic and enjoy a skate park, playground, river views, fishing and even an outdoor sculpture exhibit. (It is always hard to keep kids from climbing on those!) The best thing about this park, in my opinion, are the trees. It is full of flowering, colorful trees but fall is just stunning. The colors become more vibrant and festive making it the perfect place to go for seasonal fun. There are several memorial trees and benches for enjoyment. The red ones along the road side of the park just glow. There are groves of yellow trees with seating under them and I especially love to see the trees along the river leaning over the rushing water and dropping their beauty. It would strongly recommend you save a day to visit as soon as spring comes and see all the beauty of this public space.
