My friend, Kris, called and asked if she could purchase a gift certificate for family portraits for her in-laws. Of course, I said yes and we set to planning an extended family session at a park centrally located for everyone. As most clients do in my Chicago area, Kris worried about the uncontrollable weather but we had a perfectly warm and lovely day for our session. Then, we wanted to make sure that everyone was coordinated in their clothing choices and having three groups to oversee isn't always easy, especially with 5 teen boys involved. As you can imagine, there was resistance to being to matched from the boys. Luckily, Kris and her sister in law made a joint effort and everyone showed up perfectly dressed, ironed, with hair and makeup in place. As the family and I worked our way through the park together, it was nice to meet her family and learn more about all of them. I got comfortable with them quickly and spent time laughing with the kids, and chatting with the adults. It is always fun to see other family dynamics when they are sharing so much love with one another. I actually got the teen brothers to put their arms around one another and nobody strangled anyone else! I call that success! I could see that her in-laws were thrilled having all of the family together in one place and enjoyed spending time with all of their grandchildren. It was a special moment for them, I am sure. Their reaction to seeing their final images was great and they loved the bright and summer backdrops of the park. I am so happy that I am able to work with friends who become clients, and have clients that become friends. Seeing memories made together is a great thing and makes sharing my gift with others a real joy! Thank you Goodmiller Family for selecting me to spend this day special with you and hopefully all those boys will be back together soon!
