I can not believe that Peter is a senior in high school already! I met him when he was just a small little dude at Wasco Elementary School when he became friends with my son. I have watched him grow into an amazing young man who excels at Marmion Academy at academics, voluntarism, leadership and athletics(wrestling and football). And just recently some very impactful things have happened in his life that will really give him the guts and gusto to move onward upward.
Ranked #1 in the state of Illinois in his wrestling weight class, he has just endured a season ending injury to his shoulder. Peter had corrective surgery just two weeks ago and knowing he won't be able to compete for the state championship in his senior season is heartbreaking for him, his teammates and his fans. But wait.....the true measure of a man is how he reacts to hard times. When Peter told everyone about his injury this is what he said, "Life is full of setbacks...I am grateful for all of my accomplishments throughout high school." You see where I am going with this post, right? Peter also said, "I am truly humbled and blessed with all the opportunities this sport has given me and I can't wait to get back on the mat at Harvard next year!" Yep, you read that right! Peter is going to Harvard to become a scholar athlete in the fall of 2019! You see, this real man and real athlete is now about to become a Harvard success story who knows no boundaries at what he can achieve. I know for 100% certainty that Peter knows what the opportunities in front to him open up and as he always has done will give it his very best, with his whole heart. (He is an Eagle Scout, too.)
While he is in recovery right now, I hope he has a little down time to just rest and look back and realize how impactful his story is for other students and the cadets at his school who look up to him so much. Congratulations Peter on your continued success right now and next year! I will be watching and am ready for a road trip to Boston anytime!
